Tue 8.31 FAITH

Tue 8.31 FAITH
Healer by Kari Jobe
Rm 9:30-33
What does all this mean? Even though the Gentiles were not trying to follow God's standards, they were made right with God. And it was by faith that this took place. But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded. Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in Him. They stumbled over the stumbling block in their path.
God warned them of this in the Scriptures when He said,"I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. But anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.
Lord strengthen our faith ad have mercy on us for it's weakness and for our lack of perseverance when things get busy or hard. Please keep us close to You. Build for yourself a people our of the meanest and the worst, the fickle and the faint, here and around the world. Through the power of Your Spirit that raised Your Son our Lord Jesus from the dead!

Mon 8.30 LOVED

Mon 8.30 LOVED
Romans 9:25-26..."I will call them 'my people' who are not my people;
and I will call her 'my loved one' who is not my loved one, and,
"It will happen that in the very place where it was said to them,
'You are not my people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.

Overwhelmed today by the God who by His own choice, and just by saying so can MAKE IT SO.
I am His and my soul longs and thirsts for Him in a dry and weary long. But I am also blessed for when I hunger and thirst I shall be filled. Mmmm.
Help others who don't know Him to taste and see that the Lord is good by helping your friendly neighborhood black man share the Gospel in the mission field where His name is not known!

Fri 8.27 WHISPER

Fri 8.27 WHISPER
SMS by David Crowder Band
Romans 8:26-27
The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.
For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for.
But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.

Bill Hybels recently urged us at the Leadership Summit to never ignore the whispers of God and to OBEY them. Jesus said His sheep hear and recognize His voice. And then GOING BEYOND what we deserve the Holy Spirit steps in when we don't know what to pray and pray for us in harmony with His will!
Wow! I am So grateful for this truth because many times I have found my self at a loss for words and direction, even tho I was listening and all I could do was ask the Holy Spirit, Jesus the Comforter to speak for me.

Thu 8.26 SLAVES?

Thu 8.26 SLAVES?
Romans 8:14-16...You have not received a spirit that makes you fearful SLAVES.
Instead, you received God's Spirit when He adopted you as His own children.
Now we call him, "Abba, Father."
For His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children.

Watching the enemy attack yourself and your friends is tuff but verses like this one reassure me that God is fighting for them, for US!
He is relentlessly pursuing ALL His children and wants us to join Him in THAT pursuit!

Wed 8.25 REST

Wed 8.25 REST Romans 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. LIFE and PEACE brings to mind rest. REST in Him. This song brings me that kind of peace as I focus on Him all over again!

Tue 8.24 Strength

Tue 8.24 Strength
Rm 8:9-11 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit,
if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin,
yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you,
He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life
to your mortal bodies
through His Spirit, who lives in you.

Gavin DeGraw's chariot is such a modern psalm, a pseudo-spiritual and a prayer for strength. I apologize not for getting lost in the worship but that neither I nor my voice were really awake yet BUT my SOUL WAS AWAKE AND TOOK FLIGHT!
Today I knew I would be weak...I stepped down from everything but worship team yesterday. Really trying to focus on support-raising. Got 2 new partners this week, 1 last week and several amazing one-time donations in the last 2 weeks. I feel God providing, sometimes even before I am led to ask the person to join in this work thru their prayers and gifts!
Thank you for praying and encouraging!

Mon 8.23 Repetition

Mon 8.23 Repetition There is an awe in me awakened by the speaking and hearing of deeply true words. I mean God merely SPOKE everything into existence didn't He? Romans 4 says it this way 17 as it is written,...God...gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not (yet)exist. So it stands to reason that if WE speak His words over and over again they will BECOME true for us,in us, as well! I love love love THE WORD! I love the metaphors that can be taken literally because even ROCK isn't as strong as God so He IS our Rock. For me scripture memory is part of my armor and it waters the soil of my soul and mends my tattered faith anew! He says we have victory and share in Christ's inheritance. He says we shall be his witness in Jerusalem Judaea Samaria and the uttermost ends of the earth. Locally. In our region. In our country. And to the furthest nation and tribe. I believe He spoke to me and said Go like He did to Abraham. Leave your family and your home and Go build the Church, My Bride, in France. Help me do that? 1-www.uwm.org To help 55,000,000 who need Him! 2- Click DONATE NOW (bottom middle block (Donate Online Invest Globally)), 3-then click New Donors (unless you've given before), You'll be asked to create an account where you can make a one-time OR recurring donation. Sun 8.22 Son

Sun 8.22 Son Ex 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you." The sermon today pushed the limits of this commandment in Jesus you've-heard-it-said-...-BUT-I-say-to-you kind of way. Not just a commandment for children but a reminder for us to honor our elders our whole life long as valuable. Honoring them especially with our undivided and unhurried attention, infinite patience and maximum grace. I spent the last summer of my Grandma's life as her companion during the day. Strokes had confined her, unspeaking,  to the bed with a stomach feeding tube. But she could drink if you rubbed her throat to make sure she swallowed without choking. I would give her water and then leave the room and cry at her helplessness. I have no regrets about how present I was for what I knew then. But I realized I can love my family more and especially give my Mom more of the quality time she is always askin for! I knew she was coming today for lunch but imagine my surprise when I spotted her in the back row as we were singin after the message. God prepared today and grinned as He watched it unfold! Father to Mother to Son. I tremble 2 imagine what He has in store 4 my French brothers & sisters to be!!!

Sat 8.20 GodWithUs

Sat 8.20 GodWithUs God is with us AND we are with Him. Rm 8:14...Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.[g] And by him we cry, "Abba Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs. Heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. MercyMe's God With US made me smile so big I decided to make it my profile pic and the song for the day to remind me what joy He brings! The pity is that while God desires to be with everyone...only those who accept Him can truly claim He is WITH them. How can they accept if they haven't heard. Less than 10% of the French have actually heard this Good News that we are hoarding for ourselves. Help them hear. Fri 8.20 ROAD

Fri 8.20 ROAD On the ROAD to Beautiful. By Charlie Hall. The ROAD, our walk with Jesus, forward begins and continues with sharing in Jesus' death and then LIFE. FREEDOM follows. Rm 6:7...Anyone who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over Him. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Praying for the ROAD forward to be full of challenge, love and of joy! Here and in France.

Thu 8.19 POWERLESS?

Thu 8.19 POWERLESS? Rm 5:3...We rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. I had a dream about spiritual warfare this morning. My subconscious peopled the dream with a mercenary 2010 type Dictator but he was Satan. He used FEAR to force everyone, even me, to commit atrocities JUST TO KEEP OUR LIVES. He had us all locked down and any NONCONFORMITY TO HIS WILL was punished by vicious attack. Romans 5 is so rich. But a major point there is that we have PEACE with God but not with His enemy. And His enemy is sometimes the tool used to prod us thru the wilderness that often lasts longer than expected. I am still digesting a teaching that says it only took 12 days to get from Egypt to the PROMISED land but the people who left Egypty FREE BY GOD's decree were not ready to live there until He worked on them. Unfortunately their stubbornness stretched the training out to 40 yrs. We often criticize the former slaves for longer for Egyptian comforts out in the harsh desert of "freedom." Will we change and be molded any more quickly under God's hand. Or do we out out of fear huddle trembling under the hand of the enemy too afraid or too comfortable to CHANGE, be set apart, made holy by the God who just DECLARES us righteous because He wants to? What would America look like if most of us chose the easier path and lost touch with God? It would look like France. Hard to find any believers. And it would feel like the Egypt again. Slaves to a master who HAS NO GOOD IN STORE AND ONLY HATE FOR HIS SLAVES. Chris August sings about some of that landscape in "Starry Night"

Wed 8.18 PAIN

Wed 8.18 PAIN Rm 12: 9 Love must be sincere...12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. This hymn perfectly speaks my heart for two brothers who are in a funk, One struggling with his very faith. The song is profound and rich in lyric and touching in melody. Hear it's words and share it's prayers with me. After all we must do even the PAINful parts of this journey TOGETHER. Or we fail as a family. For Friends, here, in France...and beyond. O Love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. O light that foll'west all my way, I yield my flick'ring torch to thee; My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine's blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee; I lay in dust life's glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be.

Tue 8.17 CONVINCED

Tue 8.17 CONVINCED Rm 4:20 Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. 22 And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous. I am CONVINCED that even of it takes longer than I expected I have been called to minister in France. To make disciples who can make disciples.

Mon 8.16 FOREVER

Mon 8.16 FOREVER Rm 3:22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when He held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for He was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for He himself is fair and just, and He declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. This familiar favorite, FOREVER echoes this passage of scripture declaring that FOREVER God is Faithful, and strong...with us...Forever. The passage points out His mercy in giving the Lost (whom we were)time and opportunity to be made righteous in His sight...ONLY thru the acceptance of the sacrifice of His Son. The FOREVER, the Eternal Destiny, of millions of people depends on what we do. My fervor was renewed at the recent Summit to take the Light of Jesus into the spiritual darkness that is France in order to impact their Eternal Destiny. 1-Go To www.uwm.org (United World Mission) 2-Click DONATE NOW (bottom middle block (Donate Online Invest Globally)), 3-Click NEW DONORS (unless you've given before), 4-You'll be asked to create an account where you can make a one-time OR recurring donation. 5-In comments section put Ricardo L. Sun 8.15 KNOW

Sun 8.15 KNOW Rm 1:19 They KNOW the truth about God because He has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not KNOWing God. This verse might seem to render missions unnecessary but think back to your reaction when you realized there is one God and He wants a relationship with you. If you're like me you were a bit overwhelmed and you wanted to hook up with someone who was ALREADY CONNECTED TO HIM. Someone following Jesus the way He wanted you to follow Him. This is THE reason you are still on this Earth. To be a light that points the way to Jesus for those fleeing the powers of darkness. This is my purpose in France. Someone must be available when they accept the God the heavens declare to help them grow and mature. That is our duty always to go or to send disciples who can make disciplemakers. Sat 8.14 LIVE

Sat 8.14 LIVE Rm 1:17 For in the Gospel a Righteousness from God is revealed, a Righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will LIVE by faith." I don't know why but there is a remarkable irony that is revealed in how the Cross, an instrument of death, is the source of our most meaningful life thru Jesus. Songs like this one by Christ Tomlin speak it truly and with the LIFE, power, and joy the Cross brings The preceding verse says that the Cross is for everyone... My prayer is that we would not be stingy with the Gospel by being too hesitant to be missional, here and abroad. For France...

Fri 8.13 Mutual

Fri 8.13 Mutual Desire to Visit Rome (Hint...France) 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, 10 making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— 12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Mutual: Equally beneficial or applicable to all parties involved. Paul wasn't just prayin to go and do something for the Romans...he wanted to go and be a part of something...a family, a move of God...that he knew would change and affect him as much as any of the one he would be joining. That resonates for me with how I feel. I don't have a burning desire to escape from Myrtle Beach. It will be the hardest thing I've ever done. To leave. I have a burning desire to walk into the next chapter that God is writing in France. Can you help me? With Fundraising Ideas. By praying? A free place to live until I get there?By giving? Thu 8.12 AWAKE Rm 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. 11...Do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to AWAKE from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. I am holding on to faith and praying for your faith. May we be blessed to be a blessing to the Nations!

Wed 8.11 Undignified

Wed 8.11 SLAVES Gal 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 22:...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. "Freedom" is a song by Eddie James that bursts with so much joy that I had to share it instead of one of my own versions of Modern Psalms. If this song doesn't make you wanna dance for the sheer joy of being found in Christ then you might need Holy CPR! I urge you, in light of God's goodness to share this joy with other's who don't know Him! I ask you in light of our friendship to help me share that joy where it is unknown. You can give as little as $5 a month help me reach my goal by the end of 2010. Help bring Jesus to a whole country where the light of Christ is dim and in some places nonexistent. Mon 8.9.10 Wilderness

"I know you're supposed to go!"-E.L. to me. At the Leadership Summit Thursday and Friday past my long distance mentor Bill Hybels talked about hearing whispers from God and obeying them, trusting them. Jeff Manion then wrecked my world by talking about the long stage between when you depart from "Here" and before you get "there!" He called it the Land In Between. Often we are prepared for terrible, even for a season of difficult, but not for years of wilderness. I wept for most of that session as he described my weariness and my weakening faith. I have never doubted the call to France but boy had I begun to lose heart in the dry and often lonely wilderness. Often feeling alone and misplaced. The past six months was the most difficult. To come clean I paused all of my support-raising because I thought I had found eternal romance. It didn't work out and so for the past 3 months I have battled and survived depression and loneliness, despair even. I find myself looking at all of the young families and seasoned marriages and wondering when it will be my turn. I watch other missionaries take off and get into their field and I wonder when God? When God? So much so that I have been asking Him to not whisper but shout, to ring my bell loud and clear is I misunderstood His instructions to help plant churches in Brie, southwest of Paris. Sunday a dear friend and sister in Christ stopped my to ask for an update. Tears sprang to my eyes as she said with passion and utter confidence "I know you're supposed to go!" Like Jeff Manion, her faithful heartfelt words spoke this to me... Don't quit. Do NOT GIVE UP! Jesus seems to ask me if He's worth it. Will I finish this race or give up a mile from the finish line. I will Not give up. Today the call is just as clear as when I first got a picture of ministry in France from this scripture years ago. Just like Paul writing to the Thessalonians in chapter 2 of the first epistle I can say to my French brothers and sisters "like a mother caring for her little children. we [Jesus and I] loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.

Wed 8.4 NAME+Happy B-Day Dessi!

Wed 8.4 NAME+Happy B-Day Dessi! My Nephew Dessi turns 17 today and is about to head into his Senior Year. He's come a long way from the 2lb+ premie I could literally held in just the palm of my hand. He's taller than me now, and burly, a football player. I celebrate him today and rejoice with singing over with the God who new Him when he was too small to see with an electron microscope! This singing God who rejoices over us inspires a trillion songs back in praise! Not just from us but even from the handiwork that is His creation! The Psalms say "The heavens declare the glory of God" and the very "Morning bring[s] [us] the news of His unfailing love. His name as this song declares is strong and has the power to save. This modern psalmist affirms that the nations, all of them from here to France to the uttermost ends of the Earth, should sing His NAME louder, together, forever! Rapture practice!

Tue 8.3 ComeUndone

Tue 8.3 ComeUndone Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” No explanation needed. I've heard this call for France. Where or to what have you been called? FFH's Come Undone

Mon 8.2 Endurance

Mon 8.2 Endurance Many of the Psalms repeat, sometimes every line, that God's love endures forever, that He never changes, never fails, that He never changes, that He is always always faithful. I think the key to this passage in Romans is that we can endure only because God can endure. I keep having this flip-flop between up and down days, especially concerning getting to France. But I can endure. Will you pray for my endurance as I will pray for yours? How can I pray for you exactly? Rm 5:3-5 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Sun 8.1 Young

Sun 8.1 Young In honor of the message I decided to reminisce about my young CUMC friends. Jeff talked about how the DNA of our church has always included a ministry/service to young adults. I joined the church during that season and made friends with the college crew, walkin the walk alongside them. It not only kept me young at heart but their passion for Jesus is contagious. Now I've sung in dozens of their weddings and rocked a dozen of thee babies as they build lives around godly familes! I want to walk alongside a whole new generation of young adults and families in France. This song talks about that godly compulsion. "I will live To carry Your compassion To love a world that’s broken To be Your hands and feet I will give With the life that I’ve been given And go beyond religion To see the world be changed By the power of Your name"
