Thurs 12.09 O Come, O Come Emmanuel

Isaiah 11
1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
2The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him—...
10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples;
the nations will rally to Him...
 12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel;
He will assemble the scattered people of Judah
   from the four corners of the earth.

       I love this season for the richness of tradition, music & language about Jesus.
It IS the "Good News." But in order to fully appreciate that babe as you peer down into the manger
you must THEN lift your eyes to the Cross where we remember that same babe will hang, until He is dead,
In order to hear the beauty and power of the God who sent His only Son you must remember they both knew He would die...and that He would raise Him in Majesty the 3rd day! I'm reminded thru Salvation of our inheritance with Jesus in and as a part of Israel. Manger to the Cross.
       This song is Rapture practice. It is easy to see how the Bride of Christ longs for Jesus 2nd coming the way Judah longed for the Messiah. The lyrics and melody are haunting and powerful. Pray and sing with me as we wait...hearts full of hope for His coming...
Until then I pray everyday He be Immanuel for us, together. God WITH us...US.

Lyrics:
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to Thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.

O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
O come Thou Root of Jesse's Tree
And inside all Thy people be

Oh, come, Desire of Nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
And be Thyself our Prince of Peace.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall has come to thee, O Israel!
